Figures on WattCosts are estimates to help you understand and plan your energy use. They are not a quote, a bill or financial advice.
Why your cost may differ
- Your price per kWh may be higher or lower than the Ofgem cap, depending on your tariff, region and how you pay.
- Appliances often draw less than their rated power once warm or once a cycle settles, and some draw more at start-up.
- Age, settings, room size and insulation all change how long an appliance runs.
- Our figures leave out the daily standing charge, which you pay regardless of use.
For the most accurate figure, use the calculator with the unit rate on your bill and the wattage on your appliance's label. A plug-in energy monitor will show what your appliance really uses.
Not financial or professional advice
Nothing on this site recommends a particular tariff, supplier or product. For advice about your bill or switching, contact your supplier or Citizens Advice. For electrical safety, follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Accuracy
We check every figure against its source and update prices when Ofgem changes the cap. Mistakes can still happen. If you find one, please email hello@wattcosts.co.uk.
